Off Day

Yesterday was a very "off" day for me and I don't mean off of my diet, just not right. I took Kaite to the dermatologist and what I thought would be only a 1/2 hour visit turned into 2 1/2 hours. Afterwards she and I were both hungry so we went to a coney island for something to eat. Now a coney is not the best place to go when you are trying to eat healthy. I did fairly well and by that I mean I ate 1/2 of my chicken pita (the chicken was breaded and with cheese) and only 7 fries, yep I counted them. The whole thing just threw me off balance. I learned though it was because I had not planned. Planned for being away that long and bringing along a snack or drinking more water. Now I know that I must always carry something with me. To date I've lost 8 lbs YEAH!! It's coming off slowly but none the less it is coming off. It averages out to 4 lbs a week right now. Blood pressure has been holding steady in the 110/72 area very well for me. I have a doctors appointment in a few weeks with my family physician so I am excited to show her my journal with my progress, hopefully she'll reduce my blood pressure medicine since she increased it a few months ago. We'll have to wait and see.

1/2 Way into the 2nd week

So 1/2 way into my second week (though MWLC considers this my first week) I have gained back 1 lb. I have followed this diet to a tee and can't figure it out. During one of my visits the PA told me that this is normal, it's your bodies way of getting used to what you are now eating and your weight for the first couple of weeks will go up and down. I took that to heart and decided not to stress over this. One of the pointers she gave me was not to look so much at the daily weigh ins but at the overall weight loss for the week. My weeks begin on Monday thru Sunday, so I'll wait and see. Plus I am weighing in evey day, one day you wear a sweater, one day you don't so 1 lb is not so bad (maybe I should've pee'd before I weighed in LOL). I've also been sick the last couple of days (damn them smokers)
so my energy level plummetted, today though I'am feeling a little better so I am looking forward to my energy level returning to where it was last week-end.

Finished week 1

Yeah...I have completed the first week of the program and am down 6 1/2 lbs. 3 1/2 lbs more to go until I reach my first mini goal. I will admit it was kind of hard yesterday, I so bad wanted to go out to eat and I was prepared to eat broiled fish, baked potatoe, and steamed vegies and after a long day of work, then the funeral home
after and only getting 3 1/2 hours sleep the night before, I was exhausted, so I figured why not eat out! Thankfully my wonderful husband volunteered to cook for me last night. He made a very delicious healthy, keep in the program, dinner in 10 minutes. Way to go Honey and thank you. Today I have so much energy. I worked 4 hours this morning, weighed in, ran some errands and now I am beginning to paint a room. Whew! The program really works and I don't miss anything yet, so here is to another week of the MWLC re-establishing good eating habits.

2nd Day into the Program

It's been since the 11th of March and I've lost a total of 6 lbs. Not bad for the first week. I will say though that the cleansing part was difficult. By Wednesday night I didn't care if I saw a piece of beef again. The program so far is fairly easy to follow, I found if you plan your meals out for the next day and prepare them the day before it really helps to know what you'll be eating. Drinking 65 oz of water daily is making me pee alot LOL. Now I am working on setting some goals. My long terms goal is to lose 75 lbs - but I want to set up some smaller goals to keep the motivation going. So far I've got; at the first ten pounds I'll treat myself to manicure then the next ten pounds to a pedicure, and thats it. So I've got some work to do.

3rd Day of Cleansing

It is now the third and final day of cleansing. I've been doing really good so far, lost a total of 2 1/2 lbs and my blood pressure has been steadily holding at 120/84.
My doctor will be happy with that. I am soo looking forward to eating starch's and carb's tomorrow, instead of beef, eggs and oranges. Off to make my grocery list for tomorrow TTLY

A New Beginning

So today was the first day of "cleansing" did really good, but feel as though I ate way to much beef today. Ate a 8 oz steak, and a hamburger patty, 2 oranges, and lettuce/cucumber salad. Drank lots of water as well. I took Molly for a walk today and kicked her butt, she's been sleeping since we got home at 7:00. Weighed in and lost a 1/2 pound, probably because I just pee'd LOL. A couple of secrets they told me was if you want a taste of salt without the sodine use butter bits that are dehygerated. Have you ever ate an egg without salt Yuke!

Stoney Creek - taken by Jeff

On a lighter note - I really love this picture Jeff took at Stoney Creek last week-end when we had 60 degree weather. It's absolutely beautiful

The Final Day

Well, I am all set and today is the last day of eating poorly. I am excited to begin tomorrow with a new goal and new start. The first three days are cleansing days then the actual reconditioning of eating will begin on Thursday. This week I have to weight in five days and visit with a nurse to make sure everything is going well. I must say that the fasting didn't work well for me. As a hypoglycemic I have to eat every few hours. So what will I be eating tomorrow - red meat, green vegetables and oranges yah....an excuse for having steak (btw since Jeff had his gallbladder removed he doesn't digest red meat very well). I also have a lot of reading to do, they give you some information on behavioral modification and as a emotional eater I am hopeful this will help me. So today I'll be grocery shopping and planning my meals. I hope to post a before picture on here today as well, hopefully Kaite can take it for me.

Patiently Waiting

Well I am now fasting for 6 hours to get some blood drawn for my MWLC diet. They will be checking my cholesterol. I hate fasting, but who likes it, knowing the fact that I can't eat makes me want to eat even more. I know my diet doesn't officially begin until Monday, but today I am going to be more conscience about what I eat.
Who knows maybe when Monday rolls by and if I have to weigh in I'll have lost a pound or two. TTYL <3

MWLC

I've been thinking a lot about what to do with this blog. I've decided to maintain it as a personal journal of my weight loss. Now you might enjoy reading this or might not and I welcome comments and suggestions. I joined Medical Weight Loss Clinic tonight. It's a program that helps you lose weight with the help of a nurse practioner and physician's assistance. It started here in Southfield Michigan back in 1982. I've heard some good things about it, but with any program it is all about what you make of it. Today I signed up and took a medical history questionnaire, tomorrow I go and have blood work drawn (which means a 6 hour fast) and I get what I need for a cleanse. Monday will officially start the weight loss diet. I will be weighing in three times a week so there is a lot of accountability, god knows that I need that. There will be one on one counseling, urine tests, blood work and blood pressure monitoring to make sure all is well. You also need to take supplements and of course they have their own shakes, breakfast bars etc. Most of the food you'll eat is what you make at home so it looks like I'll be grocery shopping on Sunday. Now if all goes well I should reach my goal weight within 26 weeks. Sounds easy right!? However, I know for a fact that this will be the most difficult thing I've ever had to do (besides of course giving birth and being a mom LOL). Right now I am too embarrassed to say what my starting weight is but it is the heaviest I've ever been. I think I will post a before picture and pictures during the process. Wish me luck and stay tuned...........
